All three of Kristen's children have been, or are currently, students at Elk Creek Elementary: Ryan, 6th Grade; Colin, 4th Grade; Toby, 1st Grade. She is keenly interested in helping kids through their school years and encouraging their growth and development (learning what works for some may not work for all — and trying to find solutions accordingly). It is important to Kristen to be involved with Elk Creek on a level that extends beyond the day-to-day to the long term well-being and growth of the students and teachers as a whole.

Karen has been a teacher for 14 years, most recently in second grade. All of these years have been at Elk Creek. She has a passion for teaching kids to have confidence in themselves as learners and young individuals. Karen is married to Bill, and they have one daughter who is 25 years old. She love spending time with her family making and enjoying meals and a few good laughs together. They also travel when they can.
Karen chose to be on the Advisory Committee to share her perspective of what is important to kids and teachers in the classroom with others on the committee, hoping that her input is helpful to make decisions that are best for the students at Elk Creek.

Selena is excited to join the SAC in Fall 2017. Selena and her husband, Jeremiah, have two kids: Jonah (a second grader at Elk Creek Elementary in Fall 2017) and Evey (2 years old, but a future Eagle). They have lived in Pine since 2009, and they love it here! Jeremiah and Selena are both aerospace engineers, so she loves finding ways to offer STEM opportunities at the school. In her spare time, Selena loves reading, crafting, hiking, skiing, and chasing her kids around!

Melissa has three children who have attended Elk Creek Elementary, with her youngest entering fifth grade at our much loved community school. She has served on the Advisory Committee these past two years because she likes to be kept informed about the myriad of decisions made by our administration and teachers that affect our school’s budget, classrooms, instruction and students. It also gives her the opportunity to share that information with other parents and community members.

Kristen is honored to be part of The Elk Creek Advisory Committee. Kristen and her husband are parents to Callahan, Winston and Zoe. They've been part of Elk Creek for three years. Kristen is an active volunteer in classrooms and office, along with VP Communications for ECE PTA. She looks forward to serving as an advocate for students, teachers and parents pertaining to our school needs.
